NIL's 7: We should aim to automate the reimbursement process for the sake of the patient's welfare

The demand for a change in regulations that would abolish the obligation for doctors and dentists to determine the level of reimbursement and introduce automation of the reimbursement process, forwarded to Minister Katarzyna Sójka, among others, as part of NIL's 7, has not been implemented so far, but the self-government is noticing a slight change in the Health Ministry's attitude. A Team for prescribing and filling prescriptions for finished and prescription drugs has been established, which shows that the ministry is beginning to recognize the voice of the medical community and acknowledges that the entire prescribing process needs improvement.
In our opinion, this demand is very important, because the time that the doctor spends determining the degree of reimbursement on the prescription could be devoted to the patient. It seems that the Ministry of Health also sees the need for changes in this regard, after all, already during the residents' protest, Minister Szumowski signed a commitment that such a rule would be introduced. Unfortunately, at this point we are still a long way from this solution, which would be satisfactory to us, although it seems that we should strive for it for the sake of the patient above all," points out Klaudiusz Komor, vice president of the Supreme Medical Council.
Delaying the decision on the implementation of the discussed postulate results in the accumulation of problems on the patient-doctor-NFZ line. According to the vice-president of the NRL, it is precisely by automating the reimbursement process that these relations would improve. - There would be no inappropriately determined reimbursements, so there would also be no need to impose wrongful penalties on doctors, and there would be no unnecessary losses for the NFZ," Klaudiusz Komor concludes.
