Andrzej Tysarowski: Molecular diagnostics against cancer treatment

• Genetic testing is the cornerstone of modern cancer treatment therapies.
• The greater the scope of genetic testing, the more effective the diagnosis of genetically determined cancers, which in turn helps implement the right treatment from the initial stages of therapy.
• We already have more than a dozen drug programs in oncology that require genetic diagnosis.
• Genetic testing will be the standard in the future, in the diagnosis and in the genetic diagnosis of the patient.
• In Poland, we are provided with the required minimum. There is a lack of funding for sophisticated genetic testing for ovarian cancer or sarcoma.
• The one-time cost of such a test for the system, is marginal compared to the cost of the entire treatment of the patient. Funding such a test, will help reduce the cost of managing an oncology patient.
