- The Polish biotechnology sector needs integration and closer cooperation between Polish companies and foreign partners to increase the credibility of Poland and domestic biotechnology on the international arena, says Dr. Magdalena Kulczycka. The association has been in operation for four years and already has 39 members, with recent additions including Acellmed, A4Bee, YouNick Mint and IMDiK PAN's M. Mossakowski. We want to continue to look after the interests of Polish biotech companies to facilitate their development in the dynamically changing market ," he adds.
Dr. Magdalena Kulczycka has worked as a molecular biologist in laboratories in Poland, the US, Germany and Sweden. She was the founder and president of MicroBioLab and LabStorm. For the past three years, she has organized the CEBioForum conference - the most important biotechnology industry event in Central and Eastern Europe, enabling industry professionals to collaborate, share ideas and form partnerships that can lead to joint research projects, technology development and knowledge exchange.
- As an organization, we have already emerged from our infancy. The association has become a recognizable player integrating the industry in Poland and building bridges with partners from around the world. The association is a member of the EuropaBio network and the International Council of Biotechnology Associations (ICBA)," says Grzegorz A. Dębowski, founder of BioForum. The next three years will be a time to build new initiatives and permanent sector projects. We want more companies to see the benefits of membership in the Association, and public institutions to become more actively involved in supporting this innovative branch of the economy , he stresses.
The Association of Biotechnology Companies BioForum is a partner of the Health Innovation Hub (an initiative of the Polish Development Fund), and in cooperation with PAIH organizes a Polish stand at the largest biotechnology trade fair in the world - BioConvention in the USA. The result of the latter cooperation was that the Association received the Polish Export Leader award in the 2023 edition.
- BioForum represents companies in their dealings with regulators, government agencies and policymakers. We work to better understand the peculiarities and needs of an industry in which technology development is inherently ahead of regulation," concludes Dr. Konrad Hennig.
