Factory-filled injectors falsely labeled as Ozempic medicinal product (semaglutide, solution for injection, doses: 1 mg; 0.5 mg; 0.25 mg) have appeared in some EU countries in the legal distribution chain. The counterfeit injectables are labeled in German. How do you know you're dealing with a non-original drug? GIF publishes a communiqué on the matter.

There are differences in appearance between the counterfeit injector and the original one. Photos of the original and counterfeit injector are in the photo above (please note that the photo of the counterfeit injector is an example, and the counterfeit injectors offered for sale may differ slightly).

Features of the original Ozempic medicinal product injector that distinguish it from a counterfeit/non-original one:
- with the original Ozempic injector, only one dose, e.g. 1 mg, can be set, that is, only one digit, e.g. 1, is visible in the dose window when setting the dose;
- When turning the dose counter and setting the dose, the injector does not elongate, no component dislodges or slides out;
- there is no scale on the glass part of the cartridge visible through the window of the injector.
Counterfeit injector:
- The falsified injector allows you to set different doses from 0 to 80, so when setting the dose, you may see different doses in the dose window, and there are many of them;
- When turning the dose counter, the injector elongates, that is, the element on which various numbers and figures from 0 to 80 are visible slides out of it;
- The scale and numbers can be seen on the glass part protruding from the plastic part of the injector.
