The National Institute of Public Health PZH - PIB collects information on the number of people evading mandatory vaccinations. This number is related to those subject to vaccination in a given yearbook. It includes children and adolescents up to the age of 19 subject to vaccination according to the Mandatory Immunization Program. Cases of evasion of mandatory vaccinations provided for in the PSO have been monitored since 2003. NIZP data show that during the last 5 years the number of evasions from mandatory vaccinations has increased 2-fold, from 40.3 thousand evasions in 2018 to 72.7 thousand evasions in 2022.

Between 2003 and 2009, there were between 3077 and 4993 cases of mandatory vaccination evasion (number of children and adolescents) (2003- 4893 evasions; 2004- 4392 evasions; 2005- 4326 evasions, 2006- 3435 evasions, 2007- 3250 evasions, 2008- 3188 evasions, 2009- 3077 evasions.

There were 3,437 repeals in 2010, 4,689 repeals in 2011, 5340 repeals in 2012, 7,248 repeals in 2013, 12,681 repeals in 2014, 16,689 repeals in 2015, 23,147 repeals in 2016, 30,090 repeals in 2017, 40,342 repeals in 2018, 48,609 repeals in 2019, 50,575 repeals in 2020, 61,368 repeals in 2021 and 72,722 repeals in 2022.

The number of cases of evasion of mandatory vaccinations per 1,000 people aged 0-19 was: 0.7 in 2012; 0.97 in 2013; 1.71 in 2014; 2.3 in 2015; 3.2 in 2016; 4.1 in 2017, 5.5 in 2018, 6.6 in 2019, 6.9 in 2020, 8.3 in 2021, and 9.9 in 2022.

  • The number of evaders of mandatory vaccinations is compiled based on reports from health care workers submitted to the Sanitary Inspectorate. The immunization status is updated quarterly, and a full report is published once a year.
  • The number of evaders refers to children and adolescents aged 0 to 19 years covered by the reports in a given year. The number of evaders also includes refusals to vaccinate that were later revoked. Also reported among the evaders are those who had vaccination postponed, for example, for health reasons, but were vaccinated after some time, or the parents were persuaded to vaccinate and agreed to vaccinate their child.
  • Refusal of several vaccinations for one child is counted as 1 refusal.
