Huawei, together with Startup Academy, will announce today the results of the Huawei Startup Challenge 3. The competition was aimed at Polish startups that focus on creating medical innovations to protect and improve people's physical and mental health. We discuss the needs in this area with Professor Iwona Maroszynska, director of the Polish Mother's Memorial Health Center Institute and member of the Huawei Startup Challenge competition chapter.
Polish startups bet on innovation for medicine

- Highly specialized centers are doing a good job of providing access to technology designed to work directly with patients
- There are big challenges in building a friendly environment for young patients. These can include, for example, holograms depicting fairy tale characters accompanying children during their hospital stay
- We already have information systems in hospitals that collect data, but we don't yet know how to use them to their full potential. Data donation projects, for example, are the answer. Particularly important is information on rare diseases
- Building algorithms is difficult and requires extensive collaboration
- The creation and development of medical startups are very positive developments
- Most of the projects submitted to the Huawei Startup Challenge were innovative solutions. They ranged from solutions that support prevention to algorithms for difficult diagnostics at the level of active molecules.
