The firm belief that diversity and inclusiveness are key elements in the success of any organization was the reason for GSK's joining the ranks of 30% Club Poland. These values occupy an important place in GSK's HR strategy. By building teams based on them, the company can achieve better results and better care for the patients who trust it.
At GSK, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) covers four areas: gender equality, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, and race and ethnicity. GSK's global goal, which the company is also pursuing in Poland, is to develop, promote and engage women at every stage of their career path. Globally, the company aims to have 45% of women in senior management positions by 2025. This commitment is also supported at GSK Poland, where today already 60% of the workforce are women. GSK's approach to ensuring an appropriate gender balance fits perfectly with the mission of 30% Club Poland, so the decision to join the organization was an obvious one and is another step in strengthening GSK's commitment in this area.
- We believe that diversity is a force that drives innovation and creates sustainable competitive advantage. Striving for greater gender diversity on boards and in managerial positions not only contributes to the success of our company, but also to building a better and fairer business world. I am very much looking forward to working with 30% Club Poland. Its potential is huge, and its goal - close to my heart. I am sure that this cooperation will bring a lot of benefits to both sides," said Natalia Tomkiewicz, leader of GSK Poland Global Hub and at the same time sponsor of the employee group GSK Women's Leadership Initiative Poland, which supports women in their development and on their way to further professional promotions.
- We are delighted to welcome GSK to 30% Club Poland. We are delighted to have another company join our community that is very committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and has many initiatives for diversity, gender equality or pay equity, among others. GSK is also a member of the club in the UK and Malaysia - so we are creating a truly international community committed to positive change," commented Malgorzata Kloka, a member of the 30% Club Poland steering committee.
The 30% Club's mission is to increase the number of women on boards of directors and in leadership positions in companies around the world. It brings together more than 1,000 CEOs and chairpersons of boards of directors from more than 20 countries with the common goal of having at least thirty percent of women
on boards of directors and supervisory boards.
Diversity, equality and inclusiveness at GSK Poland
Thanks to the importance GSK places on diversity, social equality and inclusivity, it is a workplace where everyone can be themselves. The company supports all those who work there to develop and share experiences and knowledge. GSK strives to be a diverse and inclusive organization that attracts and retains exceptional and talented people.
Internal policies and processes ensure that all individuals have equal access to the benefits offered by GSK Poland and are written in inclusive language. DE&I issues are also included in benefit offerings, including health insurance and life insurance that covers life partners. Many of GSK's solutions go beyond Poland's labor laws, such as a day off to celebrate the marriage of same-sex couples.
Inclusiveness training is held annually at the company, including those on how to recognize
and take action on discriminatory behavior. A development program for employees of different ethnic backgrounds has been developed and recruitment processes have been improved in this regard.
GSK Poland's actions for gender equality
At GSK, gender equality is addressed at all organizational levels. Since 2011, GSK Poland has had an employee group called Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI) Poland. Its mission is to support GSK in developing, promoting and engaging women at every stage of their career path. WLI accelerates the personal development and career advancement of women by enhancing leadership skills and developing team leadership experience. The group organizes a Mentoring Program through which women are provided with networking, mentoring and education to help them reach their full professional potential. WLI is also a book discussion club, charity events and health & wellness training. Currently, there are more than 300 people in the ranks of WLI Poland, 10% of whom are men.
