There is only one effective remedy for reducing the cost of remedial medicine... The famous slogan with which Bill Clinton won the election (although there it was about the economy) fits perfectly with the feverish patching of holes in the finances of the Polish health care system.

Ad hoc actions, strategies changed without logical reason, omissions, misguided ideas, ineffective management - this is the whole repertoire of accusations that, with greater or lesser justification, can be directed to the construction and operation of the system and the actions of successive ruling teams. And no one is saying "this is not the way to go." Costs are rising almost exponentially. And they will continue to grow indefinitely. The examples of the world's most civilizationally developed countries show that health care is a bottomless well. It will consume all the resources that are thrown into it, and it will still be far from the desired state ... because "this is not the way."

With health care, conceptually, it's a bit like quantum physics. It is necessary to understand that what we see functions quite differently than we have learned to judge. A healthy, health care system cannot rely solely on the constant expansion of the field of restorative medicine. Health, is the absence of disease. Health is well-being. And the absence of disease and well-being come not from treatment, but from prevention, lifestyle and environmental conditions.

On December 5, the 13th Public Health Congress will focus on lifestyle-dependent diseases, "digital hygiene as a new kind of health-promoting behavior," and innovations in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lifestyle diseases. The debates will be held among leading experts and health decision-makers. Conclusions and recommendations will be sent to institutions and people responsible for shaping Polish health policy.

Please join us in auditorium A at the WUM Teaching Center on December 4.

We take off at 9:00 am.
