Obesity is a disease. It must be prevented and fought

Data from the State Sanitary Inspectorate shows that 57 percent of Poland's adult population is overweight or obese. In 2014, the figure was just over 53 percent. It's a problem that mainly affects men - 65 percent of them are overweight, while the figure for women is 49 percent.
The main reason for the development of overweight and obesity is a positive energy balance. The number of calories supplied exceeds the body's needs. The easiest way to have such an imbalance is when we consume high-calorie foods and drinks in excessive amounts. Most often, this is further accompanied by a reduction in physical activity, resulting from a lack of an active lifestyle, sedentary work, and excessive use of transportation. Obesity is becoming a problem for more and more people, but we can effectively prevent it by working together.
The basic principles of a healthy lifestyle are a well-balanced diet, regular physical activity, adequate sleep and concern for mental health.
