- This is 35 years of work, written down in one book," he says of his publication titled. "Intestinal Revolution. Reclaim your health, live long and eat what you like," Dr. Magdalena Cubala-Kucharska, a family medicine doctor known for her activity on social media. - I see a great demand for knowledge about gut health," the author adds.

- The bacteria we carry in our intestines outnumber us. We are the carriers of countless tribes, fighting for food, working for us or against us and teaching the immune system to behave - good or bad. The gut is a producer of neurotransmitters. E.g., serotonin is produced in the greatest amount just in the gut or liver. Similarly, dopamine. However, excessive production of neurotransmitters does not always serve us. We don't realize that the brain that controls all this is in the gut," points out Dr. Magdalena Cubała-Kucharska.

As the author points out, the Polish public is in need of proven information on how to build gut health and how it translates into whole body health. Her first response to this demand was to enter the world of social media with her message.

- There is a lot of awareness in older people. In younger people, unfortunately, it's much worse. I got on social media out of desperation. After all, very many of my patients had very strange ideas about what to do with their health, such as removing mercury from their brains. I decided that it was better for me to appear on Instargram, because I felt that education was very important," admits Dr. Cubala.

Another channel for reaching those interested in science-based knowledge is through book publications.

- There are a lot of stories in it, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but none of them end badly. I wanted to put together some knowledge, for example, about gluten or lactose. Most of all, though, I saw a need on the part of patients, because I was getting a lot of questions from them about what to eat or what tests to do for themselves. It's better for them to know this, not to search in the dark. This knowledge is not complicated, it just needs to be systematized. This publication 35 years of my work written down in one book," says the author.

Dr. Magdalena Cubała Kucharska stresses that the patient and his problems should be approached as a coherent whole, according to the principles underlying integrative medicine.

- It's a whole look at people and their problems and a detective approach to chronic diseases. I can't imagine working with patients any other way. I always ask them to bring even very old records to the appointment and I dig through them, looking perhaps for some old cause that may be at the root of the current problem," the doctor stresses.

The book devotes a lot of space to problems such as bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), Hashimoto's disease and inflammatory bowel disease. Not only aspects of dietary management are discussed, but also factors that cause autoimmunity.
