The Krynica Forum conference is a response to the dynamic changes on the global scene, primarily caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine. The aim of the event is to strengthen security, social cohesion and the economic position of Poland and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The means to achieve this goal is to create favorable conditions for an unhampered exchange of thoughts and substantive disputes.
The first edition of the event will focus, among others, on in the drastically changing image of our world and the changes in the balance of power in Europe and in the world caused by the unprecedented aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The honorary guest of KRYNICA FORUM will be the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, who has repeatedly demonstrated his support for the Ukrainian nation.
One of the conference topics in the thematic path: security and geopolitics will be the debate of the Polish Press Agency (PAP), which invited Tomasz Jędruchow, TVP correspondent in Ukraine, to discuss journalism in the era of the armed conflict in Ukraine. What does the daily work of reporter look like, obtaining and verifying information, moving around the endangered area? The conversation will concern, inter alia, how to deal with the emotions that accompany their work and the sense of danger for your own life on a daily basis. The discussion will be accompanied by an exhibition of war photographs by, among others, well-known photographer, head of the editorial office of PAP Foto Andrzej Lange, who will talk about his work and the power of the impact of the image.
PAP, as one of the media patrons of the KRYNICA FORUM event, decided that it was during the next event in Krynica-Zdrój that the official opening of the exhibition of war photographers would take place. In the event zone, boards with photos from recent months showing the present reality beyond our eastern border in Ukraine will be presented. The following words are the main quotation of the exhibition: "By attacking, you will see our faces, not our backs" - this is the appeal that was sent on Wednesday night (October 12) by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in the second part of the message in Russian addressed directly to the Russians.
The war in Ukraine introduces a new context to the rivalry of great powers. The international order is destabilizing and at the same time a new one is taking shape. During the discussion panel of the so-called On the first day of the event, the "Ambassadors' Panel" will surely ask whether the aforementioned world order will be bipolar or multipolar - this issue most resonates with the geopolitical reality of that time.
