The two-story facility is connected to an existing building that is part of the hospital complex of the Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski Regional Specialized Hospital SPZOZ in Lublin.
- Lung diseases are diseases of civilization, and after the pandemic, these illnesses are still plentiful. In the 21st century, the existence of highly specialized departments is indispensable. The mission of local government is to meet the most important needs of the residents, and among them is the need for health care, which is why this investment makes me so happy, because it will save the lives of the residents of Lublin. In the future, we plan to create a pulmonology center here," announced Marshal Jaroslaw Stawiarski.
New Pulmonology was created as a response to the growing problems of treating patients infected with SARS-CoV-2, other infectious infections and postcovid patients.
- We observe in the Lublin region a great need for treatment of postvcovid patients, and this is one of the main tasks we are setting for the new department. Of course, in the event of increased morbidity in the pulmonology department, we will receive covid patients. The new investment will also improve the quality of treatment of patients with respiratory diseases," says Piotr Matej, director of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski Regional Specialized Hospital in Lublin.
Currently, the Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski Regional Specialized Hospital in Lublin has two pulmonology wards: one located on Biernackiego Street and the other on Herbert Street. These two wards will soon be housed in one location, precisely on Herberta Street, where a new investment has been made.
The cost of construction of the Pulmonology Department, built in a modern modular system, amounted to PLN 10 million. Of this amount, PLN 8.4 million came from funding from the Ministry of Health for covid prophylaxis and postcovid treatment, while the contribution from the budget of the Lublin Province was PLN 1.6 million.
