Best master's theses in physiotherapy awarded by KIF

The office of the National Chamber of Physiotherapists hosted an award ceremony for the competition for the best master's thesis in physiotherapy, defended in the academic year 2023/2024. The event was attended by KRF President Dr. Tomasz Dybek, Vice President Dr. Elżbieta Skorupska, members of the competition committee and a representative of the scientific journal Physiotherapy Review.
In this year's fifth edition of the competition, 96 master's theses were submitted from universities across Poland. The competition committee evaluated the submissions in terms of methodology, substantive value, scientific significance and innovative character. As the jurors emphasized, the level of the submitted works was exceptionally high.
Award recipients and their works
The three best master's theses were honored and one honorable mention was awarded:
- First place: Kamil Burnagiel (Tarnów Academy, Faculty of Health Care) for his paper "Evaluation of the effects of neuromobilization and transcutaneous electrostimulation of the vagus nerve on its function."
- Second place: Kacper Konopacki (Silesian Medical University in Katowice, Faculty of Health Sciences) for his paper "Evaluation of structural parameters of the Achilles tendon vs. lower limb power generation using ultrasonography."
- Third place: Krystian Poziemba (Academy of Physical Education in Poznań, Faculty of Health Sciences) for his paper "Modulation of nociceptive afferent nerve fiber activity in inflammation and non-inflammation."
- Honorable mention: Nicoletta Kiełtyka (Tarnów Academy, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) for her paper "Activity of the transversus abdominis muscle and its role in lower trunk stability and injury prevention in male strength-training and football players."
The winners of the first three places received financial awards. In addition, the papers will be published in the journal Physiotherapy Review, which is on the list of point-ranked journals (20 ministerial points).
