PCP midwives excluded from "My Health" program? Appeal to NFZ

The National Association of Family Midwives has sent an official letter to the National Health Fund, demanding urgent action regarding the limited access of midwives and PCP nurses to the gabinet.gov.pl application. This problem prevents them from implementing the new preventive program "My Health - Adult Health Balance," which went into effect on July 1, 2025.
According to the Health Ministry's April 30, 2025 regulation, services under the program can be provided by community nurses and midwives. Nonetheless, the letter stressed, current technical and system limitations do not allow them to carry out their contracts with the National Health Fund. Unlike PCPs, midwives do not have full access to the functions of the gabinet.gov.pl application.
Representatives of the association noted that the professional community supports the digitization process and sees it as an opportunity to improve the quality and efficiency of guaranteed services. However, the condition for effective digitization, they stressed, is equal availability and functionality of tools for all eligible professional groups.
"Despite having the appropriate annexes to the contracts, as well as substantive and organizational preparation, we do not have the ability to fully implement the services," - reads the letter. It also stressed that the work of midwives, especially in the 20-40 age group, is highly trusted by patients and brings high efficiency.
The association calls for:
- Urgent removal of technical barriers in the gabinet.gov.pl application,
- Ensuring equal treatment of midwives and nurses in access to digital tools,
- Enabling the implementation of contracts in accordance with the annexes concluded,
- Introduce an efficient mechanism for the exchange of information between midwives, nurses and PCPs,
- Provide feedback on planned actions on the matter.
According to midwives, involving them in the implementation of the "My Health" program could significantly ease the burden on the health care system and improve the effectiveness of preventive measures for adult patients.
