The KRDL president stressed that laboratory diagnosticians are an essential link in the fight for patients' health and lives. - We are pleased to have been able to make our priorities clear. We look forward to real actions that will fully utilize our potential and translate into better patient care," noted Monika Pintal-Slimak, MD.

The diagnosticians' self-government thanked the Health Minister for the substantive dialogue and pledged openness to cooperation in introducing solutions that benefit patients and the health care system.

The KRDL president presented the most important demands of the environment, among which were:

  • A new definition of practicing as a laboratory diagnostician, including diagnostic counseling and the ability to provide diagnostic advice and consultation,
  • Expanding professional competence, including self-referral for examinations and prescribing selected drugs and medical devices,
  • Extension of legal protection at the level of public officials,
  • Removal of barriers to prevention programs and broader participation of diagnosticians in projects such as "My Health - Adult Health Balance."
  • inclusion of diagnosticians in multispecialty treatment teams,
  • Reducing bureaucracy in quality reporting to the National Health Service,
  • Establishment of a Joint Dialogue Commission of the Minister of Health and the Medical Professions of Public Trust,
  • ensuring stable financing of local government tasks through mandatory support from public funds.

As the NCDL points out, implementation of these changes would better utilize the knowledge and expertise of diagnosticians, ease the burden on physicians, and, above all, increase the availability and quality of services for patients.
