Student of the Medical University of Wroclaw on the list of "Forbes"
The "25 under 25" competition has been organized for five years by Forbes magazine and the Warsaw office of McKinsey & Company. Out of the hundreds of applications received, the chapter, which included representatives of the world of science, business, new technologies and the media, selected 25 winners in five categories (Business, New Technologies, Science, Social Activity and Sustainable Impact and Positive Impact).
Natalia Sauer was awarded in the "Science" category. The jury appreciated her scientific achievements, commitment to academic activity and popularization of knowledge. A student at the Medical University of Wroclaw, her work focuses on modern methods of fighting cancer. She is currently testing the effect of electromagnetic fields on the expression of immune checkpoint inhibitors on melanoma cells. In addition, she conducts laboratory research under six different grants, including a project entitled "Modern anti-cancer therapies - effect of magnetic field and nanosecond electric pulses on modulation of melanoma immunophenotype."
She has presented her research results at many international conferences, including the prestigious International Scientific Conference on Medicine event in Latvia. Her work has been recognized on several occasions - for "Cytotoxic effect of acetylsalicylic acid in melanoma" she received first place and a special award at the 27th International Student Scientific Conference.
She is the author of more than a dozen scientific articles, including a paper published in Nature Scientific Reports, which was the first in the world to prove that it is possible to induce exocytosis of multidrug resistance proteins and inhibit the growth of chemotherapeutic-treated cancer tumors using an electric field.
Since 2021. Natalia Sauer directs the work of the UMW Industrial Pharmacy Student Scientific Circle, co-organizes the conference "Contemporary Application of Analytical Methods in Pharmacy and Medicine," conducts workshops on cancer prevention, and organizes activities for high school and elementary school students as part of the Lower Silesian Science Festival.
