Getting closer to cross-border e-prescription

The approval of the European Commission is the first step for Poles to be able to fulfill their prescriptions in other EU countries (Finland), and for EU residents (Estonia, Croatia, Portugal and Finland) to use this solution in our country.
It remains to establish organizational details with the member states with which Poland will exchange e-prescriptions, as well as the connection of Polish pharmacies to the IT system. Completion of this stage will allow the exchange of e-prescriptions and the possibility of their implementation in selected pharmacies in some EU countries. As more countries join the program, the scope of the implementation of such a prescription will be expanded.
A cross-border e-prescription is an electronic prescription that can be dispensed in a country other than the one in which it was issued. It will be provided for full payment and may be issued for ready-made medicinal products with the availability category "Rp" (issued on a doctor's prescription) or "OTC" (issued without a doctor's prescription), reimbursed and non-reimbursed drugs. It is not possible to issue a cross-border e-prescription for psychotropic drugs, narcotic drugs, prescription drugs, medicinal products with the availability category "Rpz" (issued under a doctor's prescription for restricted use), foodstuffs for particular nutritional uses and medical devices.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that Poland Poland is one of the first EU countries ready to launch a cross-border e-prescription.
