The Ombudsman continues to receive requests for the state to implement further solutions in family-friendly policies and labor law that would favor combining work and parenthood. The Ombudsman addressed the then-Minister of Family and Social Policy on this issue on June 29, 2023. He stressed the importance of the family and the constitutional protection of this value.
He also referred to the Polish Economic Institute's report "Moms returning to work - behavioral barriers and directions of support." It shows that there is a problem with women returning to the labor market quickly and actively after giving birth.
According to the report, one in five non-working mothers of children aged 7-9 cannot find a suitable job. There are as many as 1012 economically inactive women per 1,000 working women. Among non-working men, it's only 564.
Unfortunately, so far the Ombudsman has not received a response to this letter.
Deputy RPO Stanislaw Trociuk is asking for information on whether Min. Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk intends to take steps to implement further projects leading to an effective increase in the number of women returning to the labor market.
