As research conducted by Pollster on behalf of the Ombudsman for Children shows, 23 percent. of teenagers in Poland smoke e-cigarettes. 72 percent of them do so systematically. According to the World Health Organization, Poland is one of the five European countries with the highest percentage of minors smoking. Over 30 percent of teenagers who tried nicotine had contact with it for the first time in the form of an e-cigarette.

Meanwhile, there are already studies that indicate that e-cigarettes have a negative impact on human health, in particular on the respiratory and immune systems and the way certain areas of the brain work. This is indicated by scientists from the University of California San Diego (USA) in an article published in the "eLife" magazine. The nicotine content does not have to be lower than in traditional cigarettes either. It is also estimated that the risk of addiction is higher in e-cigarette users, and nicotine addiction acquired at a young age increases the risk of remaining a smoker for life. Young people are more likely to develop addiction. Thus, a smoking teenager becomes a mostly smoking adult.

The health department appeals primarily to parents not to underestimate the problem. They should not tolerate the presence of electronic cigarettes in everyday situations. It is also important to have a clear attitude towards all new forms of nicotine intake.
