Not everyone can become a volunteer

Our flagship project is the volunteer program. The first edition - under the auspices of the Patient Ombudsman - was successful and the first group of volunteers went "into the field." The volunteers include stomas or people who have had someone with a stoma in their family and want to offer their energy, strength and support to those struggling on the initial path of life with a stoma and show that it is possible, that it can be done. Our new publication guides the volunteer step by step on what to pay attention to, what mistakes not to make. I think the guide is not only for volunteers, but for each of us, because we all have sick and seriously ill people around us. Such an example is the mistake that we most often make in good faith, that is the slogan "don't worry, it will be fine." Unfortunately, for a person who is seriously ill or who finds himself in a completely new situation right after stoma removal, life breaks down and such words are empty. But already the message "we're there for you, you'll need help, let us know, we'll help, we're together, we'll get through this together" give a different strength, help acclimatize faster to the new situation.
How to become your volunteer?
You are welcome to contact us through our website, you can write an email, call the foundation's hotline. Such a person will be directed and enrolled in the list of volunteers for the next edition, because it is not enough to apply and already be a volunteer. This is a whole training program, with aspects of psychology, with elements of stoma equipment selection. It's a lot of learning culminating in an official exam that entitles you to be certified as a STOMAlife Foundation volunteer.
