Many myths have grown up around prostate cancer that effectively discourage men from preventive care and visits to the urologist. As a result, the disease is often detected too late, when treatment options are already limited. - A visit to a urologist is not fundamentally different from a visit to other specialists, although of course it has its own peculiarities, emphasizes urologist Professor Piotr Radziszewski. Meanwhile, the belief still persists that urological examinations are particularly embarrassing or painful, causing many patients to delay the consultation. It is not uncommon for them to get to the office only at the insistence of their partner - it is the wives who often initiate the visit and break down resistance. Experts have no doubt: the key is education, taming the subject and breaking stereotypes that can cost health and even life.
