In order to increase the availability of this specialized advice, the draft regulation proposes to amend the conditions for the implementation of two health care services "Specialized advice - diabetology for children" and "Specialized advice - endocrinology for children."
Based on the proposed changes:
1) Doctors in the course of specialization in the field of endocrinology and diabetology for children will be given the opportunity to provide "Specialty advice - diabetology for children" and "Endocrinology for children" services independently.
According to expert opinion, doctors in the course of specialization in endocrinology and diabetology have sufficient expertise to provide independent advice in the subject area. Expanding the medical staff authorized to provide the aforementioned specialized advice to include doctors in the course of specialization in the field of endocrinology and diabetology for children will not only facilitate the implementation of the internship, but also reduce the waiting time for advice in the pediatric endocrinology clinic and pediatric diabetology clinic. This, in turn, will contribute to faster and more efficient diagnosis and treatment of patients.
2) the requirements for medical equipment and apparatus will be clarified.
The conditions for the realization of the service "Specialized advice - diabetology for children" in terms of equipment and medical apparatus will be expanded to include programs for interpreting data from continuous glycemic monitoring systems by CGM methods - RT and FGM. These systems are partially reimbursed and are used by nearly half of children with type 1 diabetes. Having programs to read data from glycemic monitoring devices will enable doctors to read the variability of glycemia over a longer period of time and possibly adjust treatment, primarily adjusting the appropriate dose of insulin.
In turn, the expansion of the conditions for the provision of the "Specialized consultation - endocrinology for children" service to include a Harpenden-type stadiometer will allow doctors to minimize the occurrence of measurement error when measuring a patient's height.
