On January 5, a public hearing was held on the MP's bill on special solutions ensuring the possibility of running a business during the COVID-19 epidemic (form no. 1846).

Andrzej Matyja, President of the Supreme Medical Council, intended to attend the meeting, but in agreement with the Presidium of the Supreme Medical Council, he decided to limit his speech to a written form. It was handed over to the chairman of the Health Committee of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Tomasz Latos. This decision was made, inter alia, as a sign of solidarity with representatives of other medical professions, whose applications to participate in the hearing were not accepted due to the limit of participants.

During the meeting, there were no votes from the representatives of the Medical Council, medical and expert circles. In the opinion of the President of the NRL, their participation was prevented by a massive way of taking seats by people who presented theses inconsistent with the current medical knowledge and achievements of medicine. Thus, the public hearing served as a venue for the preaching of anti-vaccine and conspiracy theories.

The applicants were in favor of the rejection of the bill. They emphasized, inter alia, it was unconstitutional, and their arguments were based on the opinions of anti-vaccine "experts" and on unofficial and questionable data. It was questioned, inter alia, there was an epidemic, and vaccines against COVID-19 were defined as experimental preparations that did not increase immunity (even lower it) and did not contribute to reducing the number of cases.

In the opinion of President Andrzej Matya, opinions on medical issues had a questionable substantive value and it is difficult to argue with them in any way. Statements that deny the achievements of modern medicine and compare them to murderous experiments on humans do not deserve serious treatment in a situation where statistical data on deaths and infected patients using respiratory support devices indicate that among the most seriously ill, vaccinated people account for only about 20%.

Prof. A. Matyja believes that the content and form of statements, full of offensive theses, incl. towards the authors of the bill, medics and patients, proves that any substantive discussion with people speaking in this way about health safety matters is impossible. The scale of ignorance and disregard for reliable scientific knowledge and its professors must arouse categorical opposition.

The President of the NRL expressed his hope that further work on the bill will lead to reasonable provisions that will reduce the pandemic, reduce the number of deaths and infections due to COVID-19, and will increase the availability of treatment for all patients and the uninterrupted functioning of the Polish economy.
