As you can read on schengenvisainfo.com, the improvement in the epidemiological situation related to COVID-19 in Europe has allowed the entry regulations for travelers during the summer season to be lifted.

Here is a list of the European Union/European Economic Area countries that have completely lifted this type of restriction and allow entry also to those who do not have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or current research:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Czech Republic
  • Croatia
  • Cyprus
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • Greece
  • Germany
  • Hungary
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland

While these 25 countries have lifted tourist restrictions for all travelers, others still maintain entry rules for tourists. The list of countries that still require foreigners to meet certain requirements includes: France, Malta, the Netherlands and Spain.

The French authorities currently apply different entry rules depending on the country the person is traveling from. There are two different categories of countries of origin - green and orange. France's green list includes all EU/EEA countries and dozens of third countries. Travelers arriving in France from a country on the green list do not need to follow any additional rules as long as they present a vaccination certificate or recent tests. Travelers who are unable to provide one of these certificates must perform a PCR test or a rapid antigen test.

"Unvaccinated travelers must provide a negative PCR test result less than 72 hours or an antigen test less than 48 hours before departure (departure of the first flight in case of a transfer) or a certificate of recovery (positive PCR test or antigen test carried out more than eleven days or less than six months earlier "- reads the ministry statement. Similar rules apply to people traveling to France from a country on the Orange List. Fully vaccinated and healthy tourists from countries on the French Orange List can easily plan their trips. Those who have not been vaccinated are required to submit a negative test result as well as a valid reason to enter France. Malta has recently facilitated some entry rules. However, the country still requires all visitors (12 years and older) to have covid vaccination documents , convalescence or tests. The requirement to present one of these passes does not apply to persons under 12 years of age. This means that children under this age can enter Malta without restrictions, regardless of their vaccination or state of recovery.

While the two countries listed above apply entry rules to all travelers, the Netherlands maintains entry restrictions on COVID-19 only for third country travelers.
The Dutch government informs that people from countries outside the European Union/Schengen area are banned from entering the EU. There are exceptions, for example, if the traveler has a vaccination certificate or proof of recovery after infection. Residents of non-EU countries who do not have any of these documents are not allowed to enter the Netherlands. However, travelers from EU/EEA countries can travel to the Netherlands without restrictions, regardless of the vaccination status of the destination.
