Three people have been detained by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau on suspicion of accepting financial benefits in public procurement for health care facilities. According to investigators' findings, the procedure was alleged to have continued between 2020 and 2022.

Officers of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau have detained three people as part of an investigation into the acceptance of financial benefits by persons performing public functions. The case is related to public procurements carried out for health care institutions. The investigation is supervised by the District Prosecutor's Office in Sieradz.
The detentions took place on October 28. Officers of the CBA Delegation in Warsaw detained a businessman, a former employee of the public procurement department at one of the medical institutions, and a person holding a managerial position at a Warsaw medical institute. During the operations, documents and data carriers were secured, which may constitute key evidence.
Benefits in return for purchasing decisions
The CBA's findings indicate that between 2020 and 2022 there was an acceptance of financial benefits worth a total of about PLN 110,000. Both cash and the provision of vehicles for use were involved. In return, favorable settlements were to be made regarding the purchase of medical equipment, decontamination supplies and services for selected health care facilities.
The evidence shows that the detained businessman was alleged to have given financial benefits in exchange for influencing decisions on the awarding of public contracts. He was also to induce the issuance of unreliable VAT invoices with a total value of about PLN 100,000 to the company he represented. In turn, the other detainees are suspected of accepting money and fees related to the use of the vehicles given to them - including leasing, renting and insurance.
The suspects have heard charges including tax fraud, use of false documents, selling to officials and bribery.
The public prosecutor applied free preventive measures against them, including police supervision, a ban on contacting certain persons and a ban on leaving the country. Property sureties were also imposed. In addition, a person employed in a managerial position at the medical institute was suspended from his duties.
According to the CBA, the investigation is developmental and multi-threaded. After analyzing the collected evidence, further procedural activities are planned.
