Changes to the DILO card
Published Feb. 25, 2025 08:04
Compared to the current model of oncology diagnostic and treatment card, the proposed model introduces changes by allowing a physician providing inpatient services and health program services to issue a card, just like a physician providing outpatient specialty and primary care services, i.e. on suspicion and finding, not just on the finding of cancer (Explanation 1 to the model card).
In addition to the aforementioned changes, the proposed design of the card in question duplicates the current design.
The DiLO (Diagnostic and Oncological Treatment) card was introduced on January 1, 2015 along with the oncology package. Its purpose is to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment in Poland.
The DiLO card allows patients with a suspected or diagnosed malignant neoplasm to benefit from so-called rapid cancer therapy. This program covers both those starting treatment and patients already undergoing treatment. No age restrictions apply, and diagnosis and treatment under the oncology package are not subject to financial limits by the National Health Fund.
