District hospitals on the brink of collapse

Representatives of district hospitals have appealed to Minister Adam Niedzielski to urgently take measures to improve the financial situation of Polish medical facilities and prevent their bankruptcy. The indebtedness of Poland's hospitals currently stands at nearly PLN 20 billion, requiring fundamental changes in the organization of the health care system. The problem affects both small and large hospitals, indicating that this is a structural issue and not a result of the management of specific facilities. Years of neglect and the lack of a transparent financing system have led to a dramatic situation in which hospitals must struggle to maintain cash flow every month. OZPSP believes that real changes are needed in the functioning of the entire health care system, not just ad hoc measures that do not solve the current problems.
