The proposed solution includes adding PET and PET-MRI nuclear medicine examinations to the catalog of guaranteed benefits for inpatient treatment in Annex 1 under item I. "Services characterized by medical procedures", a new ICD-9 medical procedure code: 92.0681, as well as a revision of the conditions for the provision of benefits by adding codes: 92.067 i 92.069.
The proposed amendment is intended to improve safety in the case of the need for repeated PET imaging in the pediatric population, which is particularly sensitive to ionizing radiation. In addition, the expansion of the conditions for the provision of guaranteed services is aimed at increasing the availability of PET imaging and expanding diagnostic methods in inflammatory conditions, as well as improving the correctness of eligibility for surgical treatment in patients with hyperthyroidism.
