The inspection of vaccination cards, which began in early April, is scheduled to last until June, although its completion may be delayed in some, the largest, cities. - The mere announcement of the inspection has already caused vaccination centers to report higher numbers of unvaccinated children, Dr. Pawel Grzesiowski, Chief Sanitary Inspector, revealed to reporters.

GIS intends to inspect 7.5 million vaccination cards of children and adolescents covered by the PSO. As Dr. Pawel Grzesiowski said, an inspector is able to review about a hundred cards per hour, so inspections in large dispensaries, in big cities, may take much longer than in smaller towns. As he said, it is possible that inspectors, after finishing their essential work in the districts, will be directed to larger centers. The inspection is scheduled to last until June - and certainly, GIS said, no partial results will be reported before then.

The side effect, however, is already known. On the one hand, vaccination centers have begun to inspect their vaccination cards - and report on a noticeably larger scale unvaccinated children. On the other hand, we can also see a greater interest among parents in completing vaccinations not performed on time. And this, Dr. Grzesiowski stressed, despite announcing the fact that the inspection is not intended to punish either vaccination centers or parents for any detected deficiencies in the implementation of the vaccination calendar.

The purpose of the inspection remains the same - to determine how many people should be vaccinated and how many mandatory vaccinations are carried out according to the calendar. In the case of vaccination cards with gaps, the control will continue, because the health inspection will want to establish first of all the actual state of the child's vaccination (if he or she is in the country), and if here, too, deficiencies are shown, the next step is to reach the family and check the reasons for which the child is unvaccinated, because anti-vaccination beliefs are not always involved, some families may not fulfill the obligation due to low health awareness, or even social or communication exclusion.

A kind of closure of the control is to be the introduction of the e-vaccination card, which will radically change the rules of control over the level of vaccination of children and adolescents, it will be possible to assess it in real time and at the level of individual vaccination points.
