The Council of Ministers has adopted a draft law on central e-registration, one of the most important digital services in health care. As of January 1, 2026, some services will have to be registered through a central system. Patients will gain easier access to doctors and examinations, and facilities will gain a tool to streamline appointment scheduling.

On Friday, July 25, 2025, the Council of Ministers approved a draft law on central e-registration. The new legislation is intended to provide patients with more convenient and faster access to health services through a digital registration platform. The law stipulates mandatory integration of facilities into the system, which will take effect on January 1, 2026.

The service is currently being piloted - facilities offering cardiology services and preventive examinations for breast and cervical cancer (mammography, cytology) can participate. Until December 1 this year, new facilities can join the pilot and benefit from additional funding. Systemic implementation will begin at the beginning of 2026 - from then on, facilities will have six months to comply. After July 1, 2026, the use of central e-registration in selected scopes will become mandatory. Failure to integrate will result in financial consequences in settlements with the National Health Service.

Central e-registration is the answer to one of the most frequently expressed needs by patients - easy appointment and examination scheduling. The new system is available in the Internet Patient Account (IKP) and the myIKP application. Thanks to it, patients can in one place:

  • check available benefit dates nationwide (for now only at pilot facilities),
  • Quickly search and book a convenient date,
  • cancel or change the appointment yourself without contacting the registration,
  • receive automatic reminders and notifications,
  • Use the so-called "waiting room" system - which will let you know when an earlier date becomes available.

The system also provides greater transparency - the order of admissions will be determined by medical priority, patient eligibility and the order of the appointment, among other factors. This will reduce the number of missed appointments, improving the efficiency of the entire health care system.

For now, central e-registration can be used to make appointments with cardiologists and for mammography and cytology as part of preventive programs. In 2026, the solution will systemically cover these particular areas of outpatient specialty care, and in subsequent stages, other areas of medicine.

Providers can prepare for the implementation by participating in weekly educational webinars - held on Tuesdays at 2pm.

The project is being implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP).
