The Council of Ministers has adopted a draft law on the Medical Fund, which will allow an additional PLN 3.6 billion to be transferred to the National Health Fund later in 2025. As the government has announced, the funds are to be used primarily to finance excess services provided to children and adolescents.

Additional funds for the National Health Fund

The proposal prepared by the Health Ministry assumes that the National Health Fund will receive about PLN 3.6 billion from the Medical Fund. The funding will cover pediatric overperformance, i.e. medical services performed in excess of the limit under the agreements concluded by providers with the Fund.

- This is a key law that is of paramount importance to ensure the continuity of funding for health care services, particularly those provided to children up to the age of 18, government spokesman Adam Szłapka said at a conference after the government meeting.

In addition, the new regulations stipulate that the level of the Minister of Health's payments to the Medical Fund be adjusted in accordance with the current needs of the health system to ensure financial stability throughout the year.
