The study will be conducted by the Department of Internal Medicine and Gerontocardiology of the Independent Public Clinical Hospital of Prof. W. Orlowski CMKP in Warsaw.
As part of the program, participants will be comprehensively examined (they will have biochemical, cardiovascular, osteoarticular, muscular and nervous system tests), and their health will be monitored later.
- We invite both those who are already physically active and those who just want to start taking care of their health," says Prof. Piotr Jankowski, head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Gerontocardiology at the Independent Public Clinical Hospital of Prof. W. Orlowski CMKP in Warsaw.
The hospital's director, Tomasz Kopiec, stresses that the hospital wants to get involved in efforts to promote healthy aging in Poland.
- The hospital's patients are mainly elderly people, so we will create a Center for Healthy Aging at the hospital. The "PRO-SENIO 65+" program is the beginning of the expansion of the hospital's existing health offerings. As part of this project, we will create a model of healthy aging that will be a reference point for patients who want to live the autumn of their lives actively and in health," says Tomasz Kopiec.
The ambassador of the project is 89-year-old Piotr Dudek, who broke the Guinness World Record in Gdynia and is the oldest windsurfer in the world. Piotr Dudek has been connected with the sea from an early age. He sailed on a ship of the Polish Ocean Lines. He has been sailing on a board for 40 years. It took a lot of perseverance for him to break the Guinness World Record, as he had to sail his board in February, March and April to do so.
- I wanted to do it because no one else in the world has done it. Cold water doesn't scare me, because I've been walrting for 30 years. My recipe for a long life is a healthy lifestyle. I exercise every morning and walk at least two kilometers in the evening. I am physically active all my life. I don't sit in front of the TV with a remote control. I have never smoked cigarettes," emphasizes the ambassador of the campaign.
Seniors who would like to participate in the "PRO-SENIOR 65+" project can apply starting May 15 by calling 22 58-41-147 between 10 am and 12 pm, or by sending an application to email: [email protected].
