The Supreme Chamber of Physicians has issued a formal appeal to the Prime Minister and the President for an immediate meeting on the deteriorating financial situation in Polish health care. In the communiqué, NIL stresses that the lack of dialogue with the Health Ministry and the growing number of signals from medical facilities require intervention at the highest level.
As the medical government points out, the current crisis is already having a real impact on patients. Many hospitals are having to postpone or suspend services due to lack of funds. NIL points out that "data and expert reports indicate that the financial deficits of the National Health Fund pose a serious risk to the availability and quality of health care." The medical self-government also stresses that "the responsibility for ensuring an efficient health care system rests with the state - the medical self-government cannot be left alone in the face of a systemic crisis."
In his speech, the NIL president appealed:
"In view of the growing threats to the functioning of the health care system in Poland and the lack of opportunities for dialogue with the Ministry of Health, as well as numerous signals about the dramatic financial situation of medical institutions and the shifting of benefits to patients, the President of the Supreme Chamber of Physicians requests an immediate meeting with the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic of Poland. Relevant documents with the request have been sent via formal channels."
NIL assures full readiness to present data, analysis and proposals for corrective actions. It stresses that further delays in decision-making could deepen the crisis and threaten the health security of citizens.
