The investment is expected to provide comprehensive patient care. Currently, similar services are provided by as many as three different institutions: Lower Silesian Oncology Center, Lower Silesian Center for Lung Diseases and Lower Silesian Center for Cellular Transplantation. With the new hospital, it will be possible to provide treatment for oncology, hematology and lung diseases in one place.
The more than 100,000 square meters of the new hospital will house, among other things, 14 rooms in the operating theater. This will allow up to 10,000 procedures to be performed annually. The hospital in its entirety will function as part of 9 comprehensive diagnostic and treatment centers. The plan of the building is adapted to the so-called "patient path", that is, it assumes the possibility of getting to a doctor, laboratory or ward as quickly as possible.
- The new oncology hospital in Wroclaw is an investment in the health of all residents of the region. It will allow oncological, hematological and lung disease treatment in comfortable conditions, combining the scopes of activity of three Lower Silesian hospitals. The investment is subsidized by the state budget. We take care not only of the infrastructure and modern equipment at the facilities. We are improving the entire oncology treatment system. We have passed legislation on the National Oncology Network (NSO), which is currently being implemented and provides oncology patients with better medical care," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the ceremonial signing of the agreement for the investment.
- By significantly increasing funding for health care and funding precisely such projects as the Lower Silesian Oncology Center, the Lower Silesian Cancer Center - we want to win this difficult war against one of the main, silent and loud at the same time, killers in the modern world, including in Poland," the prime minister added.
The investment will total more than one billion zlotys. 550 million of this amount represents support from the state budget.
