Izabela Leszczyna: no child will lose hospital rehabilitation if they have had it

- The regulation on medical rehabilitation was ready when I came to the ministry. Its issuance was put on hold and work continued for a year. The storm was caused by the fact that we had 900 indications for medical rehabilitation, and now we have 170. Hospitals have not read the regulation," Minister Izabela Leszczyna said.
As she added, the author and coordinator of the team of specialists who developed the solution was Prof. Malgorzata Lukovich of CMKP.
- A team of experts came up with the idea that the indications will now not be the diseases themselves, but their symptoms. Today the indication is quadriplegia. In the previous regulation, there were diseases that could cause it: spinal injury, widespread stroke, advanced multiple sclerosis and a few others. Five indications were turned by doctors into one. Prof. Lukovich is today criticizing a regulation that she herself actually wrote," the Health Minister pointed out.
Izabela Leszczyna has appointed another team of experts to answer the question of whether such a change is beneficial.
- Let me assure you of one thing: no child will lose hospital rehabilitation if they have had it. There is a question whether first-degree scoliosis is an indication for hospital. I won't answer it, because that's what doctors are for. I certainly won't back down and this regulation will go into effect. We got used to after the Law and Justice governments, that when there is a bill or regulation, nothing can be changed, because the authorities are the smartest. We do consultations for this purpose, so that comments can flow down. This is a normal, albeit long, legislative process, but in a normal country it has to be so," admitted Izabela Leszczyna.
