Lukasz Pietrzak has been appointed Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The appointment was handed over by the Minister of Health. - Lukasz Pietrzak will be a fantastic Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector," Izabela Leszczyna assured a few days ago. Pietrzak has a master's degree in pharmacy and worked as a pharmacy manager for 12 years.

Recall: The mission of the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector is to ensure patient safety through supervision and control over the manufacture and marketing of medicinal products.

The most important tasks of the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector are:

  • Determining the directions of the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate, coordinating and controlling the tasks of provincial pharmaceutical inspectors;
  • Supervision of the conditions of manufacture of medicinal products for human and animal use, cooperation with relevant pharmaceutical inspections of third countries, including the European Union;
  • Conducting inspections of manufacturing and wholesale distribution;
  • Supervision of compliance with the provisions of the Pharmaceutical Law on advertising of pharmacies and medicinal products;
  • Issuance of decisions and permits to the extent prescribed by law;
  • Issuing licenses for the import, export, intra-Community supply or acquisition of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and category 1 precursors;
  • Supervision of the manufacture, processing, conversion, storage, circulation and destruction of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and category 1 precursors, by controlling the implementation of obligations under EU regulations and the provisions of the Law on Counteracting Drug Addiction.
