Ministry of Health: expenditure on oncology has been doubled

The minister informed that nine radiotherapy centers received funding from the Ministry of Health in the amount of PLN 76.5 million for the purchase of modern equipment and investments in oncology - including the center in Poznań, which will spend PLN 8.5 million on, among others, the purchase of a new accelerator for the WCO branch in Piła.
Niedzielski reminded that co-financing of oncology departments is implemented as part of the National Oncological Strategy (NSO) for 2020-2030, under which over PLN 5 billion (PLN 500 million per year) will be spent on: staff training, developing standards, development and modernization of infrastructure in cancer hospitals, promotion of primary and secondary prevention. - The activities implemented under the National Oncological Strategy have made Polish oncology completely change its face in recent years, said Adam Niedzielski.
The minister also praised the achievements of the United Right's government in the area of oncology and its financing. - Expenditures on oncology are systematically growing. They have almost doubled since 2015 and amount to PLN 12 billion in 2022 - he said. He also reminded that in the next five years, health expenditure will reach 7 percent. GDP (according to the National Health Account, published by the Central Statistical Office at the end of July, current public health expenditure amounted to 4.8% of GDP in 2021).
What about the National Oncology Network? - We are finalizing the bill, we are discussing in the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers - said Adam Niedzielski. The works are to end with the entry into force of the act on January 1, 2023.
Meanwhile, literally one day before the visit to Poznań, the ministry once again (for the third time) postponed the deadline for presenting the report containing the results and conclusions of the KSO pilot project, and the deadline for completion of the activities by the team dealing with the oncological network pilot was also postponed. - Solutions that we tested in the pilot. they will apply throughout the country from the beginning of 2023 - however, assured the minister.
