More than PLN 1.3 billion in additional funds have been added to the NFZ's 2025 financial plan: PLN 922 million from revenue bonds provided by the Prime Minister and PLN 400 million from the Health Ministry's budget. The National Health Fund has announced an increase in this year's financial plan. The Fund - in accordance with Donald Tusk's decision - received the announced treasury bonds worth PLN 922 million. In addition, the NFZ received PLN 400 million from the Health Ministry, which increased the subsidy from the state budget to nearly PLN 31.5 billion.
A total of PLN 1.322 billion has been included in the National Health Service's 2025 financial plan and divided among provincial departments. From there it will go to medical facilities. As the Fund points out, after these changes, its budget is the highest ever - funds for treating patients exceeded PLN 202 billion.
Oversubscription a priority
The new funds will be used, among other things, to pay off overdeliveries, i.e. services performed above the value of the contract. In the first instance, the NHF finances overdeliveries in non-limited services, such as childbirths, heart attacks, strokes and outpatient specialized care.
The Fund also reports that the priority remains the settlement of overcontracts within drugs - in drug and chemotherapy programs. In most provinces, overcontracts for Q2 in these areas have already been paid, and some regions have begun to regulate payments for Q3 2025 as well.
More billions from Medical Fund amendment
The budget of the National Health Fund is to be injected with more funds later this year. This is the result of an amendment to the Medical Fund Law passed by the Sejm on November 21 this year, and approved by the Senate on November 27. - without amendments. The law is awaiting the President's signature.
As a result of the changes, PLN 3.56 billion is to be transferred to the National Health Fund to finance services for children.
This is another adjustment to the Fund's budget in recent months. In October, the NFZ received an additional nearly PLN 3.5 billion from the state budget. As the Fund points out, these funds have already been transferred to medical facilities across Poland.
