Of the allocated pool, PLN 281 million will be allocated for the comprehensive modernization of the Mother and Child Institute. PLN 295 million, meanwhile, will go to the Children's Memorial Health Center Institute.
- IMID will use the money for, among other things, day care hospitalization and securing the outpatient needs of children. The Children's Memorial Health Center Institute will transfer the money to very important areas of health: oncology and psychiatry. The funds that will go to psychiatry will allow the construction of a new 30-bed child psychiatry unit, said Health Minister Katarzyna Sójka.
- For the first time in many years, we will be able to expand IMID, which has a tradition of more than 70 years in the prevention and treatment of children. We treat children with rare diseases from all over Poland. Above all, we want to change our face in line with global trends of "hospital outside the walls." So in the new building we will focus on one-day medicine. There will also be modern laboratories for newborn screening. Every child that is born in Poland we screen for rare diseases. This investment will serve this purpose and will change the face of our institute. It will be a big change for all of us," Dr. Tomasz Maciejewski said.
IMID has also received a check from the Health Ministry for the purchase of medical apparatus and equipment to the tune of nearly PLN 3.6 million.
The money earmarked for the modernization of the two hospitals comes from the Medical Fund, which was established at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Poland, in cooperation with the Minister of Health. The purpose of the Fund is to support activities aimed at improving health and quality of life in the Republic of Poland by providing additional sources of funding. As Grazyna Ignaczak-Bandych, head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, stressed, the hospitals that will receive funding have a trans-regional reach.
- These hospitals benefit children from Warsaw, but also from all over Poland. PLN 600 million is a substantial amount. Investment in these projects means raising the level of services, but also increasing their scope," said Grażyna Ignaczak-Bandych.
