MZ: there is no question of any "pregnancy registry"

- I would like to say and emphasize it with great force that the introduction of the ordinance of the minister of health amending the ordinance on the detailed scope of data of a medical event processed in the information system and the method and dates of transferring these data to the Medical Information System does not create a pregnancy register - argued the deputy minister Waldemar Kraska.

So why enter data and process it? - We want the data contained in the medical information system to provide medical workers with the widest possible access to the data of a particular patient, so that the provision of medical services is at the highest possible level and is not detrimental to the patient's health. Certainly, there will be questions about who is authorized to access such data, so first of all: the medical worker who created the given electronic documentation, also the medical worker who works in a given facility and will be responsible, for example, for further diagnostics. The third person is a doctor, nurse or midwife working in a POZ. The fourth person is every medical worker in a life-threatening condition - he enumerated. Kraska emphasized that the deputies who are doctors know very well how important - due to the success and safety of the diagnostic or therapeutic process - the fact of pregnancy, and of course - information about it. - Every doctor who deals with the patient must know whether she is pregnant or not, so that this treatment would not harm the patient, but also the child, he said.

Law and Justice MPs shared the minister's views and accused Left-wing MPs of spreading false claims, opposition MPs upheld the thesis that the ministry's decision would have negative consequences for women, but also for demography, because it is part of an oppressive policy.

- As a parliamentarian I cannot accept lies falling from the rostrum of the Polish Seym. You have spoken about the pregnancy registry many times, probably dozens of times today - this is an obvious lie. We do not create any pregnancy register, and you keep repeating this lie to scare the Polish nation and women. The prosecutor will have the same access to medical records as before, said Kraska at the end of the debate. - At the moment, the data that is in the system, i.e. a visit to a gynecologist and obstetrician, prescriptions issued with reimbursement for pregnant women and referrals for periodic examinations and L4 are in the system. We are adding a separate box so that the speed of information in these life-threatening conditions could result in optimal treatment of a woman and a child, he argued.
