National Health Fund begins recruitment for pilot of central e-registration
Published Aug. 28, 2024 08:02
The pilot applies to medical facilities that have a contract with the National Health Fund to provide mammography or cytological examinations as part of breast cancer and cervical cancer prevention programs, as well as visits to the cardiology clinic. A prerequisite for participation is also to have software integrated with the P1 platform to handle e-referrals and medical events.
Recruitment is open, and applications are accepted by the provincial branches of the National Health Fund, which will sign agreements with facilities interested in participating in the program. The pilot will last until June 30, 2025.
Financial incentives for medical facilities
Participation in the program is voluntary, but facilities that choose to join and meet the requirements set forth in the regulation will receive additional funding. The incentive consists of:
- One-time bonus for transferring appointment data to the P1 platform using in-house software. The appointment schedule must be made available to patients in the central e-registration.
- Additional funds for each completed service for which the patient has been scheduled through the central e-registration and which has been recorded on the P1 platform.
The amount of funds depends on the type of software used by the facility (in-house software or gabinet.gov.pl). Detailed financial conditions can be found in the regulation of the Minister of Health.
Benefits for patients and medical facilities
The goal of the pilot is to make the management of medical appointments more efficient for both patients and facilities. Patients will gain easier access to change or cancel appointments, which could reduce the number of missed appointments - a problem the National Health Service is facing. In 2023, nearly 1.3 million appointments were missed, most of which were for orthopedics, cardiology, outpatient physiotherapy, endocrinology and oncology.
With central e-registration, patients will be able to manage their appointments through an online Patient Account, making it possible to sign up for, reschedule or cancel appointments without having to leave home.
