New standards for training medics? Ministry sets up team for battlefield medicine

The idea is to develop proposed changes to training standards for key medical professions in battlefield medicine. The new regulations are to cover future doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, midwives, laboratory diagnosticians, physiotherapists and paramedics.
The Team consists of:
1) Chairman - Director of the Department of Medical Personnel Development at the Ministry of Health;
2) Deputy Chairman - Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Personnel Development, whose jurisdiction is to supervise the implementation of training in the professions of nursing, midwifery, laboratory diagnostician, physiotherapist and paramedic;
3) Members:
a) Director of the Department of University Organization, Education and Student Affairs at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education,
(b) Head of the Department of Medical Education and Recognition of Qualifications at the Department of Medical Personnel Development at the Ministry of Health,
(c) Head of the Division of Nursing and Midwifery Education in the Department of Medical Personnel Development at the Ministry of Health,
(d) Head of the Medical Professions Training Division of the Department of Medical Personnel Development at the Ministry of Health,
(e) Lieutenant General Professor Grzegorz Gierelak, MD - Director of the Military Medical Institute - National Research Institute,
1) The Minister of Health heads the department of government administration - health, on the basis of § 1 (2) of the decree of the President of the Council

(f) Prof. Waldemar Machala, MD, PhD - Pro-rector for Military Health Services at the Medical University of Lodz,
(g) Prof. dr. n. med. and n. o zdr. Robert Galązkowski - Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Faculty of Health Sciences of Warsaw Medical University,
(h) Patryk Rzońca, MD, PhD - Associate Dean for Dietetics and Emergency Medicine at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Medical University of Warsaw,
(i) Lt. Col. Dr. Anita Podlasin - Deputy Commander of the Military Medical Training Center in Lodz,
j) five representatives of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities,
k) a representative of the Committee on Higher Medical Education of the Parliament of Students of the Republic of Poland;
4) Secretary - an employee of the Department of Medical Personnel Development at the Ministry of Health.
The task of the Team will be to prepare comprehensive proposals for changes to the current 2019 regulation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education on standards of education in the medical professions. This primarily involves:
- Reviewing and updating the learning outcomes for battlefield medicine,
- Completing the missing competencies,
- Alignment of standards with the requirements of EU Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications.
