NFZ under the magnifying glass of the Supreme Audit Office

Money, security and the future - these are the main directions of the NIK's 94 planned audits. The chamber will look into financial issues, security (including social security) and projects that represent an investment in the future.

Under the magnifying glass of NIK inspectors will be, for example, the finances of the State Forests, the Housing Development Fund, the Justice Fund, the National Health Fund, the National Center for Agricultural Support, as well as the system of granting subsidies to non-public entities, the financial report of the Clean Air Program, or the rules for remunerating members of statutory bodies of municipal companies. In the current geopolitical situation, issues concerning the security of the state and its citizens will be of utmost importance. As NIK stresses, security also has a social dimension. Therefore, NIK inspectors will look at the effectiveness of the 112 telephone notification system, outpatient care for children, systems of palliative care and care for those suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, the functioning of provincial hospitals, as well as occupational therapy workshops, the implementation of proton therapy, the rights of people with intellectual disabilities in DPS or the prevention of domestic violence.

Finally, safety is a totality of factors affecting daily life. Among the approximately 30 topics for safety-related inspections are the marking of public roads, the modernization of railroads, safe food, the promotion of healthy eating, the storage of waste oils, the prevention of water poisoning by nitrates from agriculture, the implementation of anti-smog resolutions, and police control over collector weapons in private hands. The Chamber will also look into the safety of prison officers or the preparation of the State Fire Service's specialized groups.

The future is also about increasing responsibility and its awareness. Thus, one of the topics of scrutiny will be the effectiveness of preventing pet homelessness. In turn, the future in a world of technology developing exponentially means questions about our fitness. The inspectors will check how physical education classes are conducted in schools, as well as how the state leans on digitally excluded people and the descendants of former state farm workers in terms of participation in digital development.

The Supreme Audit Institution conducts ad hoc audits each year, in addition to scheduled inspections, as an instrument to quickly investigate problems identified by the NIK.
