Dr. Izabela Kaptacz has been involved for years in efforts to improve the standards of palliative care in Poland. Her work brought tangible benefits to both patients and the entire health care system. She has been the voice of the nursing community in efforts to improve the quality of services and better understand the needs of patients requiring comprehensive palliative care.
The Presidium of the Supreme Council of Nurses and Midwives strongly opposes this decision, considering it a step backward in the development of palliative care in Poland.
The nursing self-government also calls for reconsideration of the decision and attention to the opinion of the professional community when making key decisions on health policy in Poland. The Bureau believes that cooperation and dialogue with the medical profession are essential to ensure dignified and comprehensive patient care.
The local government is also calling for solidarity and support in defending the autonomy of the nursing community and continuing the fight to improve palliative care in Poland.
