The Ministry of Health announced today, referring to the GISAID database, that 1351 cases of Omicron coronavirus have already been found in our country. This number represents 24.5% of all sequenced cases of SARS-CoV-2 in Poland.
The largest number of samples in which Omicron was identified came from the following voivodeships: Pomorskie (348), Mazowieckie (231), Śląskie (111) and Łódzkie (108).
Across Europe, the Omicron variant now accounts for approximately 85% of sequenced SARS-CoV-2 cases.
There is also a map available on the GISAID website, which graphically shows the most important "pass-through channels" of the Omicron variant between individual countries.
