The head of the health ministry said Friday that the decision to increase funding was made after analyzing the needs of hospitals related to the July salary increase and taking into account the cost of living of hospitals, which is rising due to inflation. The ministry also looked at the implementation of the limits enshrined in the lump sums. The proposed solution is intended to address all three needs.

- Hospitals are exceeding the limits written in lump sums. This means that the reconstruction of public health in the postcovid era is gaining momentum. We want to recognize entities that contribute to this. Limits will be increased by 10%, and we will allocate PLN 3 billion on an annual basis. We will allocate more than PLN 7 billion for the increase in minimum wages on an annual basis. An inflationary component will also be taken into account. We will increase the valuation of benefits," Minister Adam Niedzielski mentioned.

The total amount of the increase in health care spending will be PLN 15 billion. One-third of this amount will go to district hospitals.

- These are frontline hospitals for a huge group of the country's population. This is good news for both managers and patients. This is happening both by increasing the valuation, but we especially appreciate those hospitals that have contributed to the reduction of health debt. The increase in contract values will be proportional to performance in the first quarter of this year. However, we are also mindful of those hospitals that have temporary problems with the performance of the benefit plan. They too can count on an increase in valuation and contracts," stressed Filip Nowak, president of the National Health Fund.
