In recent days, public opinion has been stirred by the accounts of resident doctors at the Mazovian Specialized Health Center in Pruszkow revealed in the article "The boundary has been crossed" (wp.pl). The statements of the young doctors showed that there are gross organizational irregularities at the facility, which can lead to a threat to the health and lives of patients, while exposing doctors to liability for errors rooted in poor management.

The concern is not only the sheer scale of the problem, but also the atmosphere of fear that has taken hold among the young doctors. Residents who have spoken out fear that hospital management may draw consequences against them for revealing the pathology. This fear is fully justified - doctors who stand up for patient safety and transparency in the system often become victims of pressure or intimidation attempts by management.

Resident physicians, who are just learning and preparing to work independently, should be protected by the system, not put at risk by organizational mistakes.
When they are forced to work beyond their competence, without adequate supervision and protection, not only they, but most importantly patients, suffer. Residents' fears of harassment by hospital management are fully justified.

In view of the above, the National Board of OZZL unequivocally declares that it will not allow such a situation. "We will support residents both legally and organizationally, whenever their actions are based on concern for patients and respect for the principles of medical ethics." - says Grazyna Cebula -Kubat, chairwoman of the OZZL, and adds, "Resident doctors cannot be held responsible for mistakes resulting from faulty management of the institution. It cannot be that doctors tremble for the health and lives of patients, but also fear for their own safety. Their job is to learn and gain experience under the supervision of specialists." - Grazyna Cebula-Kubat points out.

The All-Poland Doctors' Trade Union is calling on the Health Ministry and all responsible institutions to immediately inspect the hospital and implement corrective measures. The boundary has been crossed. Continuing to ignore these signals will mean condoning the perpetuation of pathologies and placing the blame on the weakest link in the system - young doctors.

OZZL assures that in this and any similar situation it will side with doctors whose safety is at stake and patients who have the right to dignified care.
