- We have 26 million sick leaves in a year, and there are 16 million economically active people in Poland. The average layoff lasts 11 days. This is a huge loss of labor resources. ZUS, as part of its statutory tasks, conducts rehabilitation. We want people to be able to return to the labor market after illnesses. We rehabilitate more than 100,000 people, mainly with diseases of the circulatory system or musculoskeletal system, as well as those related to the voice or psychosomatic diseases," said Zbigniew Derdziuk, president of the Social Insurance Institution, in an interview with Medexpress during a conference organized as part of ZUS's 90th anniversary celebrations.
