The General Meeting of Delegates of the Polish Society of Cardiology has elected Prof. Agnieszka Tycinska, MD, as president-elect for the 2025-2027 term. She is the second woman in the history of the PTK to take up this position. The experienced cardiologist from Bialystok has been active in national and European structures for years, and her election program is based on the slogan: "Polish cardiology - strong at home, visible in the world."

The second woman in history has taken the position of president-elect of the Polish Society of Cardiology!
Prof. Agnieszka Tycinska, MD, a cardiologist from the Medical University of Bialystok, has been elected president-elect of the Polish Cardiac Society (PTK) for the 2025-2027 term. The decision was made at the PTK's General Meeting of Delegates. She is only the second woman in the history of the Society to hold this position - after Prof. Janina Stępińska.
Many years of activity in the PTK and ESC
Prof. Tycinska has been active in the structures of the PTK for years - she sits on the General Board, chairs the Guidelines Committee and previously headed the Cardiac Intensive Care Association. She also holds important positions in the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), including the Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors, the Program Committee of the ESC Congress and the structures of the Association for Acute CardioVascular Care.
- The position of president-elect of the PTK is a great honor, but above all it is a commitment to continue working for the benefit of patients and the cardiology community. I want the Society to be an open, inspiring place and a strong voice in the debate about the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular diseases," stresses Prof. Tycinska.
Tenure vision: strong at home, visible globally
The program of the new president-elect is based on the slogan: "Polish cardiology - strong at home, visible in the world." Its pillars are:
- Improving funding for cardiac procedures, including intensive care, interventional treatment and imaging,
- Development of interdisciplinary cardiology using artificial intelligence, telemonitoring and modern IT tools,
- Strengthening international cooperation and enhancing the presence of Polish cardiologists in the structures of the ESC,
- Supporting young doctors through mentoring, foreign scholarships, research grants and new educational platforms,
- transparency of the Society's activities, including broadcasts of Board meetings and a consultation forum for branches.
- Prof. Tycinska has made significant contributions to the development of Polish and European cardiology over the years. Her success will be an inspiration and impetus for all women in the specialty," stressed Prof. Robert J. Gil, past president of the PTK.
