As a result of an electronic vote held on August 19-21, 2024, CMKP Prof. Piotr Kryst was elected director of the Medical Center for Postgraduate Education. The newly-appointed director will take up his post on September 1, 2024, and his term will last until August 31, 2028.

Extensive experience in medicine and management

Since 2017, Prof. Piotr Kryst has served as director of treatment at Bielański Hospital in Warsaw and head of the Clinical Urology Department at the facility. Since 2022, he has also served as the head of the Second Department of Urology at CMKP. His professional career began after graduating from the First Medical Faculty of the Medical Academy in Warsaw in 1985. Ten years later, in 1995, he received his MD degree, and in 2022 he earned his habilitation and the position of professor at CMKP. Prof. Kryst is a Level II specialist in urology and a Level I specialist in general surgery.

Scientific activity and community involvement

He graduated from the First Medical Faculty of the Medical Academy in Warsaw (1985). He received his MD degree in 1995 and his MD degree in 2022, as well as the position of professor at CMKP. He is a second-degree specialist in urology and a first-degree specialist in general surgery. He is a member of the Polish Urological Society, the European Urological Society, and was president of the Mazovian Branch of the Polish Urological Society from 2013 to 2022. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Medical Incident Compensation Fund Benefits Team operating under the Polish Patient Ombudsman. Piotr Kryst, MD, CMKP professor, is the first author or co-author of 99 publications in the domestic or foreign literature and co-researcher in eight clinical trials in urology on prostate cancer, bladder cancer and potency disorders, among others. In 1998, he won the Scientific Research Committee and TVP competition for the best scientific grant in medicine ("Cytokines in bladder cancer"). In 2008, he received a first-class team teaching award for co-authoring, developing and publishing a textbook edited by Prof. Andrzej Borkowski, "Urology for Medical Students". - Medical Academy in Warsaw. He is also the originator and scientific and organizational manager of ten editions of the Mazovian Urology Days. Prof. CMKP Piotr Kryst introduced laparoscopy into daily surgical practice at the Clinical Urology Department of Bielański Hospital in Warsaw, and in 2024 robotic surgery and fusion biopsy into the diagnostic and therapeutic package for the treatment of prostate cancer. Prof. CMKP Piotr Kryst's interests include road and mountain biking.
